Propane appliances continue to
make more sense
than ever for Builders and
Homeowners.
With
federal energy efficiency tax
credits available for 2009
and rebates currently being
offered by local propane
marketers, builders and
homeowners will now be able to
save up to $1,000 by installing
appliances powered by
environmentally friendly propane
fuel.
Under the omnibus financial
rescue legislation that was
signed into law on October 3,
2008, homeowners can receive up
to $500 in energy efficiency tax
credits for propane appliances
purchased in 2009. Homeowners
that install high-efficiency
propane water heaters, furnaces,
and boilers are eligible to
receive the tax credits. In
addition, $500 rebates are being
offered in 2008 and 2009 by
local propane marketers for
propane water heating and
central heating system
equipment.
In addition to the rebates and
consumer tax credits, builders
are eligible for a tax credit of
up to $2,000 per home. The home
must be certified to use at
least 50% less energy of the
heating and cooling energy of a
comparable home that meets the
standards of the 2003
International Energy
Conservation Code.
So, if you are planning new
construction projects in 2009,
you and your customers now have
a significant financial
incentive to install propane
appliances in your homes. Also,
high-efficiency propane
appliances are great products if
you build green homes or if your
customer is environmentally
conscious. Not only will these
energy-efficient products lower
your customers' monthly energy
bills, they also are more
environmentally friendly than
appliances fueled by oil or
electricity produced from coal.
